During a recent trip to Maine, I was reminded of just how important it is to keep a steady and deliberate pace in order to achieve success. The drive to Ogunquit, Maine is about twelve hours and arguably goes through some of the most beautiful scenery in the United States. During the drive, what struck me was how important it was to follow the route and the directions precisely the way they were laid out from the beginning. If I constantly veered from the path or was hesitant in my commitment, then I was not going to be able to experience the joy of the journey.
Go Through the Tolls of Life
Here’s why it’s applicable for both leaders and followers…the journey consisted of tolls, bathroom breaks and the need for fuel, mind you, fuel for the vehicle and fuel for the family because folks can get grumpy when they have not been fed (smile)! Nonetheless, all were necessary to experience the arrival at the appointed destination. My point is this, today as you tackle Monday as a leader or a follower, remember that in order to experience the eventual joy of reaching your destination or achieving your desired goal, we all have to go through the tolls of life that take place along the way.
Greater Opportunities for Healthy Growth
However, there are greater opportunities for healthy growth and success with the right route that has been carefully selected from the beginning. While you are on that route, give importance to refuel with family, friends, followers and colleagues in order to experience your personal best. As a dream-chaser, make sure you have a consistent plan that involves a daily checklist, feedback and accountability which allows the charting of your progress. Do not worry about how detailed it is at the beginning, just start it and be consistent for your long-term success. If you need help, just let me know and we can help you get on the path to your dreams.
How often do you check on whether you are following the correct path for your life?
