A Consistent Companion
To be successful on this journey requires one consistent thing that is a non-negotiable…courage. Courage to get up each morning, courage to fight back internal fears that have been with you for a lifetime, courage to try something different, and courage to fail forward over and over again. It has been said that courage is not the absence of fear, but instead, the presence of mind to push forward regardless of the fear that lies within you. I believe that is so true and most appropriate for the times that we live in or the success we aspire to achieve. To be successful on this journey requires one consistent thing that is a non-negotiable…courage. We may not know it because we have been conditioned a certain way during our formative years, but there are heroes and heroines all around us, people that confront their fears and demonstrate courage on a daily basis. For example, take hurricane Harvey in Texas, first-responders were there on scene and working to help those who could not help themselves, business owners stepped up to provide a hand during times of uncertainty, all with a common denominator…courage. Many of those heroes are the epitome of bravery and courage. They sacrificed their own safety, comfort and families to protect the safety we all should enjoy as citizens of this great country.
A Constant Reminder
Today, be reminded that courage is an important trait in the lives of each of us regardless of what stage we are at in our lives, how successful we are or how important we aspire to be. Why? Because, it requires courage “every day” to show up and face the challenges of the unknown and to pursue our dreams. During my keynotes and training seminars, I often share with the audience, courage shows up when you have absolutely no idea what the outcome is going to be, and it prepares you for future encounters.
For this reason, lets exercise the courage, resolve and commitment necessary to accomplish great feats in our lifetime. Greatness lies ahead for the courageous!
